Carols Around the Dovecote

We are pleased to announce the return of our popular “Carols Around the Dovecote ” event on Saturday 2nd December 2023.

All the usual attractions. Choirs, brass band, stalls, mulled wine, German beers, minced pies etc. Father Christmas may make an appearance.

Inflatable Flix presents to you, the popular outdoor Sunset Cinema in Sale, Manchester at the stunning Walkden Gardens.
In September we are celebrating the lives of two of the most iconic artists to come out of America.

Yoga in the Gardens

Outdoor Yoga classes begin in Walkden Gardens on 20 July (weather permitting). As usual they will be on Tuesday evenings 6-7 pm, all welcome, just turn up with a mat! These classes are donation based, with a suggestion donation of £5 or pay what you can. At least 50 per cent goes to the Friends of Walkden Gardens group who do such a fantastic job of maintaining and developing the beautiful gardens. If you haven’t been before, do come along this year. Practising Yoga outdoors adds a special dimension to your practise, and the theatre lawn with it’s hedging and mature trees is a perfect setting which allows for privacy too. A story of marriage, wealth, jealousy and lies. Falstaff is down on his luck, so decides to restore his fortunes by seducing the wives of two wealthy merchants. The wives discover he sent them identical letters and take revenge by playing tricks on Falstaff when he comes calling. This comic humiliation of a foolish, would-be seducer is filled with live music and colourful characters.

Jane Eyre

Step right up, ladies and gents, to Heartbreak Productions’ Carnival Spectacular – complete with astounding acrobats, jaw-dropping jugglers, and our very special guest – the death-defying escape artist Jane Eyre. Watch her wriggle out of five different tight corners, including everyone’s greatest fear – fire!

Heartbreak is delighted to present this original adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s classic, Jane Eyre, for the outdoor stage. We follow our favourite Victorian heroine through her many ordeals, using the backdrop of a carnival, as she escapes from her aunt’s house, her school, the fire, the moors, and finally finds safety with her true love, Mr Rochester. Harrowing at times and heart-warming at others, this romantic tale is best enjoyed at one of our gorgeous outdoor venues, with a picnic, of course!

Awful Auntie

Awful Auntie by David Walliams, adapted for the outdoor stage by Heartbreak Productions, is a truly thrilling tale. Owls, ghosts, chases, escapes, motorcycle rides, and tiddlywinks all fill Stella’s days as she evades her menacing Aunt and saves the family home. So, please join us at the dedication of the new playground at Saxby Hall and hear how it all came about. Make sure you bring a blanket or chair to sit on, weather-appropriate gear, and a picnic, as the tale could take some time to tell, and storytelling can be hungry work!

Prospero conjures a storm and torments the survivors of a shipwreck, including his treacherous brother, Antonio. Meanwhile Prospero’s slave, Caliban, plots to rid himself of his master but is thwarted by Prospero’s spirit-servant Ariel. Ferdinand then falls in love with Prospero’s daughter Miranda. Will Prospero grant Ariel her freedom and be restored to his dukedom? Will Ferdinand and Miranda’s love overcome all? Folksy’s wonderful outdoor production is filled with live music, colourful characters, enchantment and a little touch of magic.
