Walkden Gardens have been awarded a Green Flag for 2017/18. The Gardens have held this prestigious award for several years.
This is due, in no small measure, to the work of the Friends Group volunteers.
We are pleased to announced that, at the Sale Lions Father’s Day event in Worthington Park, the Friends of Walkden Gardens were awarded a grant of £1,500 towards the cost of the proposed labyrinth in the Gardens.
Many thanks to all those who voted for our project.
Sue Hirst, on behalf of the Friends Group, received the cheque from the Mayor and Mayoress of Trafford.
We are always looking to recruit new volunteers to help maintain and improve the Gardens. The gardening volunteers meet at 10am on the last Saturday of every month (except December). Tools etc are provided.
If you are not into gardening, our events team are looking for people who can spare some time to help at the various events that are held in the Gardens. If you are interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Emily Frier, a physiotherapist at Bolton Royal Hospital and from Sale, held a pilates class in the Gardens to raise money for the families affected by the recent terrorist attack in Manchester. Some £300 was raised and donated.
