Crowd Fundraising Update

The Friends of Walkden Gardens are installing a labyrinth at the far end of the wisteria arch in the Gardens.
What is a labyrinth? It is a sort of maze but without hedges. In ancient times, walking the labyrinth was a kind of pilgrimage.
Thanks to several generous donations we are well on the way to raising the necessary funding and the Friends Group will also be using their own funds.
Many thanks to all those who donated via our JustGiving page. You raised a total of £205 before deduction of JustGiving fees.

Carols Around the Dovecote

The Friends of Walkden Gardens traditional “Carols Around the Dovecote” will take place on Saturday 2 December 2017, starting at 12.30pm.
Salvation Army Band, various choirs, mulled wine, German beers and sausages and various stalls.
Father Christmas has also promised to be present!

Sage Volunteers

On 21 August 2017 five volunteers from Sage (an accounting software company based on Salford Quays) gave up their time to work in the Gardens with Sue Hirst from the Friends Group.

Many thanks to the Sage volunteers and Sue for all their hard work!

Green Flag 2017/18

Walkden Gardens have been awarded a Green Flag for 2017/18. The Gardens have held this prestigious award for several years.
This is due, in no small measure, to the work of the Friends Group volunteers.

Awarded “Make Sale Smile” grant for Labyrinth

We are pleased to announced that, at the Sale Lions Father’s Day event in Worthington Park, the Friends of Walkden Gardens were awarded a grant of £1,500 towards the cost of the proposed labyrinth in the Gardens.
