Volunteer workdays are held on the last Saturday of each month (except December).
The next workday is on Saturday 25 November 2017 starting at 10am and finishing no later than 1pm, with a break at half-time for tea/coffee and a bite to eat!

Walkden Gardens has been nominated for a possible award in the Fields in Trust “UK’s Best Park” competition. The Gardens are up against some stiff competition.
Please visit the “Fields in Trust” website and cast your vote for Walkden Gardens. Voting ends 5pm on Friday 3 November 2017. The winner will be announced on 28 November.
This week work has started on Phase 1 of the construction of the labyrinth at the end of the wisteria arch.
The Friends of Walkden Gardens traditional "Carols Around the Dovecote" will take place on Saturday 2 December 2017, starting at 12.30pm.
Salvation Army Band, various choirs, mulled wine, German beers and sausages and various stalls.
Father Christmas has also promised to be present!
On Saturday 28 October 2017 the Friends of Walkden Gardens are offering a free guided tour of the Gardens.
The tour will start at 11.30am at the dovecote with tea/coffee and cake.
All free but donations would be welcomed!

On 14 October 2017 delegates to the World Urban Parks Europe Congress visited Walkden Gardens as part of their pre-congress meeting tour.
The Friends of Walkden Gardens have plans to install a labyrinth at the far end of the wisteria arch in the Gardens.
What is a labyrinth? It is a sort of maze but without hedges. In ancient times, walking the labyrinth was a kind of pilgrimage.
Thanks to several generous donations we are well on the way to raising the necessary funding and the Friends Group will also be using their own funds. However, some help is still needed and any contributions to this project would be most welcome.

Our friends at Moor Nook Park in Sale Moor are holding their Apple Festival on Sunday 8 October 2017 from 12 noon to 3.00pm. Free Entry!
The Friends Group will be holding their annual "Carols Around the Dovecote" event in Walkden Gardens on Saturday 2 December 2017.
As usual, to raise funds for the Gardens, we will be running a Bottle Tombola stall. If you can donate a bottle of anything, please bring it to the next work days on 28 October 2017 and 25 November or drop off at 139 Norris Road, Sale Moor. All donations welcomed!
