Folksy Theatre production of “The Princess and the Giant” on Friday 10 August 2018 in Walkden Gardens
We hope that you will be able to join us on our coach trip on Sunday 19th August 2018 to visit the Dorothy Clive Garden and Wollerton Old Hall Garden in Market Drayton, Shropshire.
The coach will leave the layby outside Sale Grammar School on Marsland Road at 9.00am prompt and will return to Sale about 6.45pm.
The cost for the coach, entry to Wollerton Old Hall Garden, and a walk and talk around Dorothy Clive Garden is £20.
Please note that this does not include entry to Dorothy Clive Garden which will be payable on the day. Members of the RHS get free admission and if you have the 2018 Gardeners Worth 2 for 1 card this can be used. These cards can still be purchased (subject to availability) and details are on the FoWG website. Full entry price to this Garden is £8.50 but this will reduce to £6.50 if 10 or more of our group are not using RHS or other discounts.
Food is available at both venues. Wollerton Hall cream teas at £5.50 must be ordered in advance. Wollerton would also like some idea of the numbers likely to use the tea rooms for refreshments. Please note that picnicking is not allowed.
Please book places as soon as possible and send cheques to Sue Hirst, 25 Oulton Avenue, Sale, M33 2NB. Cheques should be made payable to “The Friends of Walkden Gardens”. Email Sue at firstname.lastname@example.org

On 12 June 2018 Walkden Gardens had a visit from Green Flag Inspector Paul Rabbitts. He is pictured here on the left with Chris Baker and Dave Rome (both from One Trafford), Garth Jones (Chair of the Friends of Walkden Gardens), and Rob Frier and Sue Hirst from the Friends Group.
About 60 people participated in the first of Gaynor Mullin’s yoga sessions in the Gardens on 12 June 2018.
Weather permitting, sessions will run every Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm.
Please bring water, somthing ward to wear for relaxation at the end, and a mat if you have one, or feel free to plant your bare feet in the grass!

A wide programme of events in the Gardens during Summer 2018.
Everyone is invited to our 2018 AGM in the Upstairs Room at The Moorside Hotel, 131 Marsland Road, Sale at 7.30pm on Wednesday 27 June.
In addition to hearing reports and electing the Committee, there will be an interesting talk by Steve Wright, a member of the Japanese Garden and Society and a familiar person to most of you. It promises to be a good evening, though, so make a note of it come and have a glass of wine (or soft drink) with us.
Many thanks to Sue, Steve, Martin and Rob for giving up their Saturday morning on 19 May 2018 to plant some very large mature azaleas and fatsias in the Gardens.
