After several years of planning and work, the Tranquil Garden is now established.
Our latest project is to install a labyrinth just beyond the far end of the wisteria arch. What is a labyrinth? It is a sort of maze but without hedges. In ancient times walking the labyrinth was a kind of pilgrimage; now it is just fun!
Please vote for our project at the Voluntary Sector Grants voting on Saturday 3 June 2017 in the Square Shopping Centre in Sale.
Volunteer workdays are held on the last Saturday of each month (except December).
The next workday is on Saturday 27 May 2017 starting at 10am and finishing no later than 1pm, with a break at half-time for tea/coffee and a bite to eat!
Go to the Projects page for some information about the work done by the volunteers.
Walkden Gardens are a public green space owned by Trafford Council. The Friends of Walkden Gardens work with the Council, and their contractor Amey, to maintain and improve the Gardens.
The Gardens are open every day and entrance is FREE OF CHARGE except on a few occasions when there are musical or theatrical performances taking place.
We regret that, except when there are theatrical events, there are no toilet facilities on site.
Please note that, as the Gardens are a public open space, they cannot normally be hired for private events.
The gates are normally opened at about 9.00am (sometimes earlier) and are officially closed at 4.30pm in Winter and 7.00pm in Summer. Please don’t risk getting locked in! Also, please check the onsite noticeboard as they may sometimes close earlier!
